RENAULT'S distinctive Megane family continues to top Europe's best-sellers' chart, and now the range's appeal looks set to grow even further with the launch of two new summer special editions, Megane Oasis and Scenic Maxim.

Emphasising style and value for money, prices start at £10,995 after a customer saving of £1,035, and order books open immediately.

During recent months, a myriad new and revised medium-sized cars have appeared on UK roads, so to ensure the Megane range continues to be one of the bestsellers in the market's most competitive sector, Renault has created two new special editions for two types of customer.

The first, Megane Oasis, costs just £300 more than the current mid-range Expression model, yet offers sparkling value for money with its comprehensive range of equipment, enhanced by £1,250 of added equipment.

In addition to equipment like 60W CD-RDS radio, air conditioning, automatic headlamps and windscreen wipers, the Oasis models also boast specific pieces of equipment which are traditionally reserved for much higher specification models.

These are panoramic glass sunroof (single on sport saloon), insurance approved alarm (Thatcham Category 1) and hands-free Renault card (which negates the need for a traditional door and ignition key and is ideal if you have your hands full with shopping or children) with electrically, heated folding door mirrors.

Customers wishing to turn their car interior into even greater oasis of calm can choose from several interior options like cruise control with speed limiter and pre-telephone equipment, as well as the ability to add aesthetic and safety features like alloy wheels (£500), ESP with ASR traction control and CSV understeer control (£750), metallic paint (£325) and tyre pressure monitor (£250).

The Oasis is available on four of the Megane family's bodystyles: Hatch, Sport Hatch, Sport Saloon and Sport Tourer, and six economical engine and transmission combinations - three petrol and three diesel - 1.4 16V 98, 1.6 VVT 115 and 1.6 VVT 115 Auto, plus dCi 86 Euro IV, dCi 100 and dCi 100 Auto.

The current, second generation of Scenic brought more dynamic styling to the mid-size MPV market and the new special edition Scenic Maxim continues this theme with a combination of sporty style, an air of exclusivity and an array of luxury equipment.

With on-the-road prices starting at £15,040, again after a customer saving of £1,035, the Scenic Maxim offers great value for money.

The launch of New Scenic and then the introduction of the seven-seat Grand Scenic in September 2004, cemented its reputation as the most desirable and innovative compact MPV. Renault is launching this latest special edition, Maxim, for both Scenic and Grand Scenic.

Maxim costs only £500 more than the equivalent Dynamique, yet boasts extras of 16in Louxor alloy wheels, climate control, cruise control with speed limiter, part leather upholstery and sliding centre storage unit worth £1,150.

The order books for both models open immediately, with Scenic Maxim available until June and Megane Oasis until October.
