AFC Totton have succeeded where Gosport Borough failed earlier this season - by signing powerhouse striker Floyd Hamodu from Fareham Town.

The big, bustling frontman has been released from his Cams Alders contract and signed a two-year deal at Testwood Park this week in readiness for next season.

"We'd been tailing him for a while. He always seemed to score against us and we know he's a real nuisance," said delighted Totton chairman Richie Maton.

"For him to choose Totton above a club like Gosport is very pleasing. Signing Floyd can only enhance our prospects for next season.

"Floyd's been injured quite a bit this season, although he's fully fit now, and I think he'd got a bit disillusioned.

"In fairness to Fareham, they've been excellent about it. Their chairman Bob Ralls was very helpful."

Although Totton are more than happy with their current strikers - Steve Whitcher, Scott Bundy, Mark Osman and teenager Luke Watts - they felt they needed another frontline option to compete with the Wessex top guns.

Maton said: "Mark plays mainly wide right these days and Luke's still very young. In Floyd, we've got ourselves an excellent footballer who is very quick and strong."

Hamodu was signed by Fareham from Sussex League side Pagham during ex-Saint Jon Gittens's time in charge.
