A SOUTHAMPTON pub is on the lookout for a local knight in shining armour as part of its St George's Day celebrations later this month.
The Cowherds on the Common will be crowning its very own modern-day St George to mark the saint's day on Saturday, April 23, and landlord Robert Mitchell is asking customers to nominate worthy people.
"Although St George is our patron saint very few people know much about him, so we are trying to change that," said Mr Mitchell. "We know there are a great many people in the local area who do a number of good deeds to help others, which is exactly what St George is claimed to have done."
Entry forms are available at the pub, with the winner receiving a meal for two.
