HARRY REDKNAPP believes Saints need ten points from their remaining six games to ensure their Premiership safety.

That equates to three wins and a draw before the end of the season.

Saints were dragged back into the Prem-iership's bottom three last weekend when they lost to Blackburn and WBA grabbed a point against Aston Villa who visit St Mary's on Saturday for the start of a vital week that also sees matches against Bol-ton at the Reebok and Portsmouth at Fratton.

Redknapp said: "I would certainly settle for ten more points at this stage. I think if we can get up to 37 it should be enough. It is going to be very tight whatever happens, and could still go to the last day."

Saints were well off the boil at Blackburn when they were beaten 3-0 while Ports-mouth also dragged themselves out of trouble with victory over Charlton in Alain Perrin's first match in charge.

"Pompey's win over Charlton should see them safe," said Redknapp. "Maybe they need a couple more points, but I don't think that will be a problem, and I cannot see them getting dragged into it.

"We played very poorly at Blackburn. It was one of those days that all teams have from time to time. But we had a good chat about it before training, and hopefully we have got it out of our systems and get on with preparing for Satur-day's match against Villa.

"Thankfully, no one picked up any knocks at Blackburn so I am hoping to be able to pick from a full squad."

Saints have an average-looking run-in and Adam Leitch's predictions match Redknapp's ten-point target to ensure safety...

And, by his maths, it does indeed look like safety for Saints.
