NEARLY 200 men and boys took part in the Run4Fun held in Romsey on Sunday.
Cancer Research UK is set to benefit from thousands of pounds raised by the 5km run at The Romsey School.
A mirror of the women-only Race 4 Life, the event, which is in its second year, aims to raise awareness of cancers that mainly affect men such as prostate and testicular cancer.
Organiser Kate MacDougall said: "We had 187 taking part which was a fantastic increase on last year. People think cancers are something that mainly affect the old, but these cancers affect the younger generation in the
20-45 age bracket."
In the long run, Ms MacDougall said she would like to see Run4Fun events held more widely across Hampshire.
Among the runners was Charlie Smith who has inoperable prostate cancer.
Last May he was told he had seven months to live. He walked the 5km and ran over the finishing line.
