FREEBORN Motorhomes, which launched its first solus site with a large indoor and outdoor display facility at Bursledon on the outskirts of Southampton last year, is expanding into neighbouring Surrey.
The company, founded in 2003 and led by managing director Josh Willis, is sharing the site of Freeborn Guildford at Guildford Road, Godalming, currently a Citroen dealership in the same group.
Freeborn Guildford will continue to run its Citroen sales, service, and parts departments alongside the motorhome operation.
"We identified the need for an outlet in the Guildford area similar to the existing one in Southampton and it was common sense to use a perfect site that was already in group ownership," explained Josh.
"It's ideally suited to serve that area of Surrey, has space for between 35 and 40 motorhomes to be displayed, and there are workshop facilities on site. It's close to the main Loseley House/Godalming turn-off on the A3, which makes it highly accessible." Tim Jordan, 45, has been appointed to run the new branch. Tim has previously managed a Hampshire-based motorhomes business and said he was excited to be joining Freeborn at a time of significant growth. "I intend to major on customer service, something that can sometimes be a disappointment to motorhome owners," said Tim, pictured, right, being welcomed by Josh. "People invest a lot of money when they buy a motorhome and it's an asset that retains its value for many years.
"People view their motorhome very much as their second biggest purchase and like to maintain them to a very high standard. As a result, they expect the same levels of service from us and I am determined that we will achieve this."
The Freeborn Group includes the Romahome manufacturer on the Isle of Wight and about 80 per cent of current production is sold through the Southampton branch.
"The new dealership in Surrey will have Romahomes for sale but will also be offering a wide range of new and used products from other manufacturers. We will have some exciting product news to come in this respect as the year unfolds," said Josh Willis.
"Our Southampton branch will continue to be the principal outlet for Romahome."
