PORTSMOUTH Motorcycles gave the public the opportunity to chat among the HM Plant Honda Racing team from the British Superbike Championship.

Janie Oromogbe (from Gladiator and Fran's Angels fame), compered the evening and is one of Portsmouth Motorcycles celebrity customers.

Fred Watson, Portsmouth Motorcycles manager and organiser of the event, said: "First time she's bought a bike!

"All through her TV career and media career, she's been given bikes, but this time she's bought one, a Honda Blackbird."

Jane passed her motorcycle test with 1st Castle in Portsmouth, who also were in attendance.

A surprise visitor, Craig Boyce of speedway fame, joined in the fun afternoon and spoke of the fun of speedway and the Isle of Wight Islanders team - this we'll be covering soon in On Two Wheels, so keep your eye out for this!

Fred spoke about the event: "This has taken absolutely weeks to get together, I don't think any dealer has had the whole race team before, transporters and the bikes.

"We all do open days where we have one or two of the racers down but, the whole thing's a bit of a first.

"After the team's performance at Brands Hatch on Easter Monday, we're all on a high, especially with Kiyo's two race wins.

"We wouldn't normally put on an event of this size so early in the season but wait for the nicer weather, but this was the only time we could get the team together and the sun has come out.

"People would say that I pulled strings with the weather, but that's one thing I can't do!"

"We aimed to show the diversity of Honda's products, such as race boats, cars, bikes, lawnmowers - though we haven't got any lawnmowers on show here! They also make an executive jet, but we haven't got one of those either!"

Portsmouth Motorcycles opened its doors on Good Friday 2003 and now it has grown in stature and magnitude.

It's in an ideal location to find, just off Eastern Road, with a large forecourt - which 1st Castle also uses for its CBT instruction.
