WORK gets under way today on creating Eastleigh's latest cycle route.
It is expected to take about eight weeks and will link Chandler's Ford railway station to Meon Crescent.
The scheme - part of a cycle strategy for Chandler's Ford - includes upgrading the existing pedestrian crossing in Bournemouth Road and widening the footway next to the precinct to accommodate cyclists.
Improvements will also be made to the Monks Brook footway through to Meon Crescent.
The facilities will provide a high-quality cycle link from the railway station, which will benefit pupils at Toynbee School.
Work will be carried out primarily on the footways, with pedestrians diverted as necessary. Any works on the carriageway will be carried out in off-peak hours to help minimise disruption to traffic.
