PETERSFIELD all but mathematically sealed their survival in London Division 4 South-West with victory over already-doomed Romsey.
Their 47-0 success was achieved predominantly with 14 men after Charlie Mason was dismissed after just ten minutes for retaliation.
It did not stop the east Hampshire men, however, as Neil Arnold had already given them a two-penalty lead that was improved by James Martin and Chris Beaves before the break and added to by five more tries afterwards.
The win means that Old Emanuel will need to win their game in hand over championship chasing Guernsey by more than 80 points to overhaul the Penns Place men.
Southampton performed with extreme pride but slipped to a 25-20 defeat at Old Paulines, only falling behind with three minutes to go, having played superbly throughout their final match in London 4.
Having held sway in the first half, Southampton's scrum relaxed in the second period and Surrey took advantage, the game following a similar pattern to much Saints' season as skipper Marcus Coffin explained. "I have been pleased most of the time with the performance if not the scoreline."
Tottonians produced their performance of the season in overturning Andover 22-13, which has secured them a fifth place finish in London 3 South-West.
Superb performances from Paul Brading, who ran in two tries and hit a fine drop-goal, and prop Danny Drake helped Totts exact revenge for the two heavy defeats inflicted on them by the All Blacks this season.
Winchester snapped up fourth by beating London Irish Amateur 27-12.
Two tries from James Bingham wrapped up the triumph.
