SAINTS may reunite £1m-rated Notts County defender Kelvin Wilson with FA Youth Cup stars Leon Best and David McGoldrick - but will face competition from Chelsea and Arsenal.
Nottingham-born Wilson, a 19-year-old centre back, has been tracked by Saints as well as Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton and Spurs since making his league debut at the beginning of the season.
League Two strugglers County are expecting a big bid from a Premiership club in the summer but Saints may hold the trump card as Wilson is a good friend of both McGoldrick and Best, who combined to score the only goal in the under-18s' midweek FA Youth Cup win against Wolves.
Wilson's contract at Meadow Lane is set to expire in a year, but County manager Ian Richardson is hoping that the highly-rated teenager signs a two-year extension, after handing him 34 starts this year.
Richardson said: "If Kelvin went to a Premiership club, he would be playing regular first-team football within a year. He is that good. But if he does sign a new deal with us it would be a good move for everyone. He has said that he would like a new contract and has asked for a two-year deal.
"He knows there are a lot of clubs taking an interest in him - Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs were all at the game again last weekend. But he also knows that he is still learning. He is getting better with every game."
Best, 18, moved to Saints before he broke into the Notts County first team but McGoldrick, 17, cost Saints an initial £75,000, a fee that could rise to £500,000 with appearances, after moving to St Mary's soon after becoming the third youngest player to represent the league's oldest club, at 16 years and three days.
