HAMPSHIRE crashed to a disappointing 27-9 defeat in Yorkshire with both men's teams losing 10-2.

Hampshire's success came in the ladies' matches where the B team fought an honourable draw. Sarah Morgan, Laura Power and Amanda Humphreys were the winners for Hampshire with Power collecting the Trophyman Player-of-the-Match Award.

On Sunday the ladies' A side went down fighting 4-2 - Jane Monaghan and Jill Field being the winners.

Hampshire's Men's B team were 3-0 down before Sam Rooney hit a winner. And they were 8-1 behind before Colin Philpott won his Trophyman Player-of -the-Match Award with victory and a 26.24 average.

At this point Hampshire were 10-2 down and overall trailing 13-5.

After the ladies defeat on Sunday, it got worse.

It looked promising as Hampshire manager Rick Lowther stormed to a 3-1 win. But Hampshire were trailing 5-1 before Roy Brown clinched another game for his county. Hampshire failed to win again as Yorkshire completed a 10-2 double.

Hampshire's final game of the season is at home to Staffordshire in two weeks' time.

Skill League

Imperial B came within a whisker of beating Manor when the clubs clashed. Lena Roling (two wins) and Debbie White won for Imperial. Three other games all went to 2-1 before Manor won them.

Alison Garner, Chris Katearns, Pat Keehner and Jenny Bailey provided the winning games. Bailey also had the highest score in the league of 133.

Top finish was 77 by Caroline Smith (Bishop's Waltham).

Eastleigh Town & Guests

Three more maximums have taken the season's total to date to 130. DannyBallard hit his 13th and there were others for Graham Strugnall (Arrow) and Keith White (Obelisk). Nearest rival to Ballard is Tony Whitcher who has hit 12. Steve Perren (Sam's) went out on 120.

Bishop's Waltham Men

Maximums from Brian Biddle and Ian Edmunds failed to save Division 1 leaders Sam's from defeat. Crown ran out 6-3 winners with Jason Richards shooting out on 109. Chris Bryant (Cricketers) and Grant Parnell (Linden Tree) both hit maximums.

Cobweb Solutions Fareham Men

Wicor Mill B have gone into the league record books.

The team that moved down the road from The Seagull last September won every game they played in the season.

Eighteen league fixtures and eight consecutive cup matches over two seasons saw them take the division double. They retained the Ernie Hills Cup with a thumping 7-2 win over Portsdown B. But the win at Admiral Cunningham was a little less comprehensive. It was a tense last league game of the season until Steve (Whiskers) Smith won the final game to secure a 5-3 win.

Eastleigh & Bishopstoke

Chandler's Ford, Eastleigh RI, Cricketers and Loco C have all reached the semi-finals of the KO Cup.

Home victories for Eastleigh, Loco C and Cricketers over North Baddesley, Breezer's and Leigh saw them through.

Romsey & District Ladies

So near, yet so far for players from Malthouse. Sharon Milsom beat E Newell (British Legion B) to win the Secretaries' Cup for Malthouse.

But in the Captains' Cup the Malthouse skipper Carol Rickman was beaten in the final by Debbie Pearce (Comrades A).

It completed an excellent season for the Malthouse captain that included a maximum 180.

Winchester Masters

Andy Elvin has proved himself a top-notch player with Hampshire. And in Winchester he is just as deadly with his arrows. From a field of over 60 players he won the open singles title for the fifth time in seven years.
