SAINTS Premiership survival bid hit a setback today as they were comprehensively beaten by a far superior Blackburn outfit.

Over 2,000 travelling Saints fans made the journey north and turned their end into a sea of yellow and blue but left bitterly disappointed after seeing a decidedly one-sided match.

Saints were outplayed in every department and in truth Blackburn probably should have won by more.

Harry Redknapp's men got off to the worst possible start when Morten Gamst Pedersen (pictured) stole in behind Rory Delap and fired across keeper Paul Smith and into the far corner on 11 minutes.

Saints almost equalised when Henri Camara flicked the edge of the post but Blackburn came out after half time and sealed up the points.

On 48 minutes Andreas Jakobsson deflected Steven Reid's cross into his own net before Reid fired home on 55 minutes to make it 3-0 and complete a miserable afternoon for Saints.
