BAT Sports defend their Hampshire indoor cricket crown at the Rose Bowl tomorrow evening - barely a month after being pipped in the ECB Lord's six-a-side final.
Beaten by one run by Madisons in a thrilling final, BAT are anxious for another taste of Lord's next winter.
But, in order to qualify for the 2006 ECB championships, they must regain their county title - and that will mean beating semi-finalists Hook & Newnham Basics, and either Havant or Winchester KS in the final tomorrow night.
BAT will start favourites against Hook, but the North Hampshire side showed their prowess by knocking out Easton & Martyr Worthy in the quarter-finals.
Shaun Green (38), Steve Green (34) and Kevin Neave (23) took Easton to a healthy 133-5 against Hook - but it wasn't enough.
Hook gradually built a winning response and got home by three wickets in the final over.
One-time ECB indoor champions WKS pegged New Forest champions Fawley to a modest 96-5 (Steve Rice 23, Wayne Smith 23) and polished off the target with three overs to spare.
Once Jimmy Taylor (26) and Paul Marks (26) provided a 69-run start, there was no way back for Fawley, who were beaten by four wickets.
Calmore Sports gave Havant a real run for their money - but then collapsed with the winning post in sight.
They appeared to have little chance when Havant posted 138-4 (Andy Perry 29). But some erratic Havant bowling, aided by quick scoring by James Rose (29) and Simon Ennew (26), put Calmore in the box seat at 102-1 off nine overs. Then a brace of wickets each by Mark Copping and Richard Hindley sent Calmore spinning to 105 all out and a 33 runs defeat.
Tomorrow's line-up: Semi-finals: 6pm Havant v Winchester KS, 7.15pm BAT Sports v Hook & Newnham Basics. 8.30pm final.
