ROALD Dahl's scariest story, The Witches, is brought faithfully to the stage in this production, which runs at The Mayflower from Tuesday April 26.
Ruby Wax starred as the Grand High Witch during this show's recent West End run, but the evil character will be played by talented actress Katerina Jugati throughout the remainder of the UK tour.
A gruesome gang of witches is plotting to rid the country of children by tainting sweets with a poison that turns a child into a mouse.
When a boy and his grandmother stumble across the witches' evil plans, they take on the Grand High Witch and her army of spell-casting followers in an attempt to thwart their deranged scheme.
More than 35 local women were auditioned for the roles of the witches, as the production company behind the show is keen to involve local talent.
In Roald Dahl's story, children are warned that they could be living next door to a disguised witch without even knowing it. But beware, because for all you know, your very own next door neighbour could be one of the witches on the stage!
This fiendishly funny show is ideal for entertaining the whole family, and can be seen in Southampton until Saturday April 30.
Children's tickets from £9.50, others from £10. Call The Mayflower box office on 023 8071 1811 for more information.
