A charity which helps the Third World has fallen victim to fly-tippers.

When staff at Dentaid arrived for work after Easter they found a huge pile of waste, including 11 industrial dishwashers and an air conditioning unit dumped outside their premises near Landford.

"Our volunteers spent the day cleaning up instead of doing their real work," said Dentaid's chief executive Luke Wordley.

The charity refurbishes dental equipment to be sent out to the Third World as well as promoting all aspects of health education.

"As a charity, the last thing we want to do is to spend money on CCTV but it looks like we might have to," said Luke, who is looking to tighten security at the site.

Luke said the council wouldn't come to remove the rubbish as it was on private land so the charity would also be left with the bill for its disposal.

Police are investigating the dumping, which took place sometime over the Easter weekend

If anyone has any information about this incident they should contact PC Daz Willis, of Salisbury Police 01722 710208.

Dentaid are also appealing for volunteers to work in their office or workshop - for more details call them on 01794 324249.
