THE SP Systems/Wightlink Team from the Isle of Wight have a reputation for producing talented bike riders - but even their three-rider squad had their work cut out on Sunday.
The Island team have produced some of the country's best up-and-coming riders and Kieran Page is a product of their system.
But their squad of Simon Saunders, Simon Ambrosini and Ed Perry were up against the famous Yates brothers in the Antelope Racing Team 3-Up Team Time Trial event.
The In-Gear team was led by Sean Yates, a former Tour de France yellow jersey wearer and current team director for Lance Armstrong's Discovery Channel Team.
Yates is famous for holding the record for the fastest-ever time trial in the Tour de France, won in Wasquehal in 1988.
Yates who travels the world managing the Discovery Channel riders still loves to pull on his racing kit and riding in local time trials.
So the squad from the Isle of Wight can be satisfied with their solid performance in the 50km event that saw them lose by only one minute and 40 seconds to the flying In-Gear squad.
The Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth was the venue for the second round of the south circuit race league on Sunday.
Having shown great form in cyclo-cross and on the track over the winter months, new i-team.co.uk signing Jon Dibben has carried his good form into the road season.
Dibben from Hythe won the under-12 category from Charlie White, with William Couch from Fordingbridge third.
Couch's younger brother, David, was the under-eight winner. Results:
