IF THERE is to be a third team down from Hampshire Division One, who will it be?
This season-long drama finally comes to a head this weekend. Six clubs are in the firing line, all searching for the win that will assure them of their place. Defeat will mean an anxious wait working out the maths.
New Milton & District look the sitting ducks - except they have a great chance of escaping, given they meet already-relegated Alresford and the Foresters can field a strong side.
Ricky Everingham starts in the centre while Tom Chappell gets a chance in the second row, skipper Matt Rule taking a seat on the replacements bench.
Milton do have a handful of first choice players missing however and dare not underestimate their opponents, otherwise they could come unstuck in mid-Hampshire.
A win for Rule's side could mean trouble for Farnborough, who visit out-of-form play-off assured Islanders Sandown & Shanklin. But Lee Trindle's men need the win to keep their faint hopes of a home April 30 game alive.
Victory for either of these strugglers could see Fareham Heathens slide into the mire and they will receive no favours from deadly rivals Nomads, who became the other team already relegated to Hampshire Two last week.
Millbrook must feel they are as good as safe, although they have a host of worries ahead of the visit of Trojans.
Graham Hill broke his collarbone last weekend and is out so Wayne Renwick moves across to the centre, partnering Dominic Sales while Pravin Seneviratne switches to the wing and Adam Cripps goes back to full-back.
The visitors will be bidding farewell to coach Pete Surtees and will want to do so in some style so they resist the need for too much change, even though many of the players who missed the Alresford game are back.
US Portsmouth are also comfortably positioned but could do with the win over Isle of Wight to be assured.
They are going to be minus Hungarian Tamas Odor, who was injured during their last game with Farnborough and will now miss his country's vital World Cup qualifier with Croatia in a fortnight's time.
