HAMPSHIRE were thrashed by ten wickets for the second time in as many days yesterday.
England stars Robert Key (70no) and Geraint Jones (59no) were unbeaten as Kent rattled up 139 for 0 after Hampshire had been bowled out for 137 in just 48 overs at Canterbury.
It means that Hampshire have now conceded 496 runs and taken just one wicket in the first two of their four pre-season friendlies, after losing to Essex at Chelmsford on Monday.
Manager Paul Terry said: "We can only go one way from here and that's up.
The only positive was the fact that we did not suffer any injuries, but it was a very disappointing day.
"We were totally outplayed and didn't get nearly as much out of the day as we hoped."
Shaun Udal, who had top scored at Essex, did so again yesterday with 29 while seamer James Bruce produced a late flurry with 24.
England's one-day star Kevin Pietersen did not play his first game for Hampshire yesterday but could feature in the Rose Bowl's only pre-season friendly, against Gloucestershire (11am), today.
Hampshire complete their pre-season against Northants at Northampton on Friday before the 2005 season gets under way against Gloucestershire in Division One of the County Championship at the Rose Bowl next Wednesday.
