TOP Hampshire golfer Jonathan Barnes took a big step towards the PGA EuroPro Tour after winning the pre-qualifying competition at Frilford Heath.
The South Winchester assistant pro shot rounds of 73 and 68 for a five under par total and a one-shot win over Craig McCollum (Haywards Heath).
Barnes won the Hampshire PGA order of merit in 2004 and is no stranger to European qualifying having regularly gone in search of his European Tour card.
He now goes forward to the final qualifying round of EuroPro Tour later this week along with two other local players Steve Cowle (Blacknest) and James Huffam (Hampworth) who tied for 11th place.
