MOST people wouldn't consider walking hundreds of miles in temperatures exceeding 30C, let alone running them.
But two brothers from Southampton are preparing to go one better than that.
Steve and Pete Fleming, are planning to kick a football for 250 miles across the African country Malawi - to raise £10,000 for children orphaned by Aids.
They will start at Malawi's national stadium on May 21 and aim to finish ten days later at an Aids project in the north.
"We wanted to come up with something a bit different, " said Steve, 27, who grew up in Shirley and
now works as a marketing executive in London while Peter, 23, who is the Saints mascot Super Saint, is a physiotherapy student at the University of Southampton.
"We both love football and we don't think anyone has ever done anything like this before," said Steve.
"We chose Malawi because they are absolutely crazy about football there and one of the poorest countries in the world with a really severe Aids crisis."
On Thursday Steve and Peter's father, Professor John Fleming, organised a raffle at Southampton General Hospital to help fund the challenge, with a range of prizes donated by Southampton Football Club.
The money Steve and Peter raise will help fund a project that treats children with Aids and those orphaned by the disease.
The project has been endorsed by the Football Association, which is providing footballs for the trip.
Former England football captain Gary Lineker said: "I would like to wish the boys success with Kick 4 Malawi. It's a great cause and deserves support."
The brothers will each complete the equivalent of a half-marathon every day as they kick their football through Malawi's streets and have been training hard.
Steve added: "We have both run marathons before and are now running around 60 or 70 miles a week in training.
"It is going to be tough. It will be about 30C out there and a rough terrain. There will probably be lots of interested locals trying to get a kick, but we are looking forward to it."
