A RENOWNED firm of London architects has been chosen to design a major transport interchange on the Isle of Wight.
Marks Barfield has been engaged by Island transport chiefs to revamp the bus and rail stations, as well as the esplanade, at Ryde.
The new interchange will feature transparent facades and a roof clad in glass and metal.
It will handle an estimated three million passengers a year using the ferry, hovercraft, trains, buses and coaches, as well as provide facilities for taxis and cyclists.
Julia Barfield of Marks Barfield said: "The Ryde Transport Interchange will be the main gateway for visitors to the Isle of Wight. We are delighted to have been appointed for this project."
