HAMPSHIRE'S biggest music party is on. And this year the line-up is going to be the best yet!

Some of the hottest stars in pop are being lined up to perform at Southampton Common on June 5 as part of the eleventh Power in the Park music festival.

McFly, Girls Aloud, Will Young and Southampton's very own Craig David have all performed at previous events, though just who will be headlining at this summer's four-hour-long music marathon remains a closely guarded secret. Thirty thousand fans are expected to attend, making Power in the Park one of the biggest outdoor music concerts in the south.

Lloydie, Power FM's drive-time presenter, said: "Power in the Park attracts chart-topping bands year after year and the 2005 line up is anticipated to be no different. As the day approaches we are expecting to announce some very notable acts, promising to ensure this year's event is the most exciting yet!"

Tickets for Power in the Park, supported by O2, are £10 and on sale now and organisers are expecting them to sell fast.

A donation of £1 from each sale will go to Power FM's Help a Local Child charity, which over the last 18 months has helped hundreds of disadvantaged children in the south.

Organisers hope to raise at least £30,000 from this year's event. Any money left over after costs from June's show will also be ploughed back into the charity.

For a limited period only organisers are offering group tickets for £30. Unlike in previous years tickets will be available on a first come first served basis and not just to competition winners.

"Help a Local Child aims to give better opportunities to Hampshire's children and young people who experience poverty, abuse, neglect, homelessness, violence or crime. The charity also aims to help those who have an illness or disability," said Power FM's breakfast show host, Rick Jackson.
