THE DELICIOUS scent of continental cuisine drifted through Winchester with the return of the popular French market in the Cathedral Close and Brooke Street.
Traditional French delicacies such as croissants, baguettes, cheeses and meats, olives, cider, wine, crepes, sweet treats and, of course, garlic were on offer along with household goods, crafts and gifts.
Elaine Robbins, of the city council's tourism service, said: "We are delighted that the French market is so popular with residents and visitors and the Cathedral Close is such a special setting."
The market will stop in at Bishop's Waltham next Sunday.
