THE musicians of the New Gateway Jazz Band will need to muster some extra puff next Thursday - to blow out a king-size candle on a giant birthday cake.
The occasion is the first anniversary of Thursday night jazz sessions at the Upland Park Hotel, Droxford.
Each customer will be offered a complimentary slice of cake at the popular Meon Valley hostelry, where Dixieland jazz has proved a big draw.
The New Gateway Jazz Band launched their Thursday night sessions a year ago and will be providing the music for their birthday celebrations.
Led on trombone by Keith Samuel, the band's line-up is completed by trumpeter and singer Bill Harvey, Roy Sear on clarinet and alto sax, Maurice Dennis on banjo and guitar, and Allan Sokell playing sousaphone.
John Hall will be keeping the beats on drums.
