IF YOU have not signed up for the Alberto-Culver Run4Fun, get along to a special event at the Basingstoke Aquadrome - and you can get a helping hand with your training.
Everyone who signs up at the Aquadrome at the Leisure Park between 4pm and 7pm on Wednesday, April 6, will be given a month-long training programme and a week's membership at the fitness centre, free of charge.
The run itself takes place at Down Grange, Basingstoke, on Wednesday, May 4, and starts at 7.30pm.
Men of all ages are invited to take part in the race, which aims to promote awareness of cancer in men.
Gazette Newspapers is proud to, once again, be the only official newspaper sponsor of the Run4Fun and will be fielding a team of runners in the event.
The Run4Fun has grown into one of Cancer Research UK's biggest fundraisers in Hampshire with nearly 1,000 men and boys running last year, raising more than £42,000. However, with the run heading into its fourth year, the organisers want to do even better.
Kate MacDougall, event organiser, said: "Last year was good, but this year I'd say that the target figure is £50,000 and we're hoping to have 1,500 lads, dads and granddads taking part."
It does not matter if you take on the five-kilometre course at a flat-out run or make your way around with a gentle walk - all that matters is that as many people as possible take part and raise as much sponsorship money as possible.
Registering for the run costs just £7.50 for adults and £4.50 for under 18s. If you register on the day the cost rises to £10 for adults or £5 for children.
To register for the event, simply fill in the form on this page and send it back to Cancer Research via the fax number or postal address.
Forms can also be downloaded from The Gazette's website at www.thisisbasingstoke.co.uk
Alternatively, register your interest by calling Cancer Research on 01403 216460.
If you cannot take part in the run, you can still make a donation to Cancer Research over the phone or at the website - www.cancerresearch.co.uk
