ANDOVER'S new-est pub will open its doors on 27 April at 7pm, says owners the Barracuda Group.
It will be called 'The Redbridge' which recalls Andover's former link to the south by the now defunct canal.
It closed after the opening of the railway.
The name was chosen by Andover resident Darren Kidd in a competition open to all residents which asked for readers of the Andover Adver-tiser to come up with an appropriate name. "We had about 40 different names suggested but this was thought the most appropriate," said Emma Currin, the company's spoke-swoman.
Darren will now be the VIP guest at the opening night knowing he thought up the name of the town's newest hostelry.
