A WOMAN'S body has been pulled from the Solent.
Police on the Isle of Wight recovered the body from water between Newtown Quay and Yarmouth at 2.45pm on Tuesday.
They have been unable to identify the woman but believe she was about 60 years old.
Police are now asking for anybody with information to get in touch.
She is described as being about 5ft with short dark hair.
She was wearing pink or red carpet slippers, grey socks, navy blue corduroy trousers, a T-shirt, checked shirt and a blue/grey jumper.
Police originally believed she could have been from the Island but have now widened their inquiry to include the New Forest and Southampton areas.
Initial investigations show she had been in the water for about 24 hours.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out today.
