THE Victory triple skipped by Steve Robertson fared best of the Hampshire contingent in the finals of the £5,000 Drake and Fletcher Honda (Ashford) Top Ten Classic at Folkestone.
Robertson, alongside Matthew Marchant and Iain Mackenzie, finished in the prize money after coming third with five wins from their six matches.
Their successes included a 23-5 thrashing of Crystal Palace and a fine 14-11 result against Egham.
Although Peter Hobday took just two of his six singles, his wins included a 17-15 verdict against international Mark Royal (Mid-Suffolk).
With Richard Shelley injured, Bill Taws deputised in the pairs for Victory with Colin Thresher. The new twosome won three but the four skipped by Colin Hayward gained just a single success - and that was by a 26-6 margin against Paddington.
Dean Morgan and Martyn Sekjer were East Dorset's top performers. They won four of their pairs fixtures, defeat in their final game depriving them of third spot.
Bill Belcher had three victories and a draw in the fours, Peter Ward won three and lost three in the singles, but Adam Tidby gained just one triples win.
Overall, Folkestone were the top club.
East Dorset found the Kent club's carpet very tricky but their Classic experience will put them in good stead for this Saturday when they meet Folkestone in the quarter-finals of the Leonard Denny Trophy (one rink home, one away).
