Sir.-I write regarding the story in a recent Monday Gazette, about police patrols in Hook.

I was surprised to see so many bobbies doing the beat in Hook over that weekend.

It was reassuring to see that my council tax does some good.

I hope it wasn't just a photocall for Hampshire police and that I shall be seeing more of them on my travels in the village.

I hope it continues after the general election, as well as before.
