NEW opening hours at Hedge End police station will swing into action from Monday.
The station in St John's Road will now be open to the public from 8am to 8.30pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 6pm on Saturday, with a closure each day between 12.30pm and 1pm.
The station will no longer open on Sundays and will also be closed on Bank Holidays.
A police spokesman said: "The new opening times have been carefully adjusted to ensure members of the public who need to make personal calls to the station can still do so at a time convenient to them.
"They also prevent the station from remaining open during very quiet periods."
The spokesman said that police officers would continue to patrol from the Hedge End base 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Anyone needing to make a personal visit to a police station outside the Hedge End hours can do so at Eastleigh, which is open until 10pm each day.
