FAMILIES and staff at the Wildern Opportunity Group in Hedge End are to benefit from an award of more than £1,500.
The group, based at the 2000 Centre in St John's Road, helps parents of children with special educational needs by giving them the opportunity to enjoy specifically tailored play sessions to suit each child's needs.
Children from as young as three months are included in the group, which also helps develop their learning, speech and play skills.
The grant from Hampshire's Awards for All scheme, will help develop the day care provided for parents with a sensory area to help children with their learning and sensory abilities as well as their physical abilities.
As part of a scheme to award grants to worthy organisations across Hampshire, the money will also go towards training volunteers so they can deal with the range of disabilities and communicate better with children.
