THE case of a man facing a murder charge was adjourned earlier this week because he had been admitted to a prison medical wing.
David Page (45) is accused of murdering his wife, Val (51), who was the manager at the Carroll Youth Centre, Stanmore, Winchester.
Her body was discovered at the family home in Honeysuckle Close, Badger Farm, Winchester, in November.
Mr Page was due to appear before the Honourable Mr Justice Davis at Winchester Crown Court on Monday.
The court heard that Mr Page was unable to attend because he was in the medical wing at Winchester Prison, where he was in custody.
Defence lawyer, Anthony Berry, QC, said: "He's described as being 'generally unwell' and will be unfit for two or three days."
He stressed that Mr Page was not in the medical wing because he wanted to avoid his court appearance.
"There's no lack of keenness on his part to get this matter dealt with," said Mr Berry.
The judge adjourned the case until Monday, April 18th.
