HAMPSHIRE libraries are reintroducing a four-week loan for books, music, audio books, language packs and information videos.
However, the current one-week borrowing limit will continue to apply to most videos and DVDs.
As prices are rising elsewhere, Hampshire libraries are reducing the costs of many services, with music CD loans and language packs now only 60p and PlayStation 2 games now £3.50.
Audio books and language packs are free for children and the over 60s. There is good news for young people, too, with a free request service and no overdue charges for the under 18s.
"We have listened to Hampshire residents' views about the changes they want to see and we hope that they will enjoy getting better value from libraries," said executive county councillor for recreation and heritage, John Waddington.
"While we are striving to improve our library buildings and develop the range of services we provide for local communities, it is important that we adapt our core library services to ensure that they meet people's needs."
