COLDEN Common must have thought they'd be top of the Division 3 table today following their six-goal second half showing against Fleet Spurs.
The Commoners had trailed North End by only one on goal difference and their 6-1 spanking of Fleet Spurs looked good enough to sent them to the summit.
That was until news filtered through that Farnborough had won 6-0 at Ludgershalls!
Richard Lang broke the deadlock at Common after 50 minutes with Matt Rackham squaring the ball across to Ross Lewis to make it 2-0 just five minutes later.
Fleet pulled a goal back almost immediately but Dean Higgins crossed for Lang to score with a far post header before Jim Hart's corner found the head of Lewis for 4-1 on 70 minutes.
Lewis completed his hat-trick five minutes from time after the ball rebounded off the keeper and substitute Simon Stillwell volleyed in number six after Lang had flicked on a Higgins corner.
"We were a bit lacklustre in the first half but we improved vastly after the break," smiled Common boss Nigel Light.
So Farnborough extend their advantage after a Paul Griffiths hat-trick eased them to victory at Ludgershall.
Julian Sills, Steve Lloyd and substitute Lee Warne completed the sextet.
Otterbourne are still waiting for any slip-up after they came from behind to triumph 2-1 at Tadley.
Bradley Nash gave the Berkshire side a 15th-minute lead before two identical glancing headers by Jim Bedford from pinpoint deliveries by Andy Day and James Banks secured another win.
It was a maximum point weekend for fourth-placed Paulsgrove, who followed up Saturday's 1-0 victory over Verwood with a 4-2 success against Clanfield.
On target were Ben Burgess (2), Paul Russell and Gary Wearne - the latter two scoring in the final five minutes after Clanfield had hit back from 0-2 down to level.
Doubles from Nick Newman (17+55) and Elliott Wykes (42+70) plus another by Josh Weeks (15) steered Laverstock & Ford to a 5-1 win at QK Southampton, who replied through Ralfe Antonio just after half-time.
Second half strikes from Lee Lodge (47), Luke Sweeney (52), Dan Turner (75) and Dan Hill (89) saw AFC Portchester triumph 4-0 over Ordnance Survey.
Two-goal Neil Butler and Steve Green saw Overton overcome whipping boys Yateley Green 3-0.
Fleetlands' derby at Hayling was postponed after the visitors got the kick-off time mixed up.
