RENOWNED saxophonist Andy Sheppard has urged the people of Southampton to embrace the city's Turner Sims Concert Hall.
Regarded by many as one of the world's leading players of the saxophone, Andy was speaking after his residency at the venue earlier this month.
He described the Turner Sims as an "asset to the community" and called on more people to see for themselves just how good the concert hall's season line-up was.
"The Turner Sims is a marvellous venue that I have always been impressed with when I have played here. But what has really caught my eye is the superb line-up of musicians and artists that the venue attracts.
"For such an intimate concert hall, it is outshining itself by providing artists on a world scale for the people of Southampton to enjoy. They should embrace it for that reason alone," said Sheppard.
Concerts next month at the Turner Sims include performances by intern-ationally acclaimed violinist Viktoria Mullova on April 10 and pianist and composer Tim Richards, who brings a star-studded nine-piece band to the hall on April 12.
