SOLENT Stars end their league season tomorrow (2pm) against close rivals Worthing at Fleming Park.

Pride will take be at stake for the Stars.

In a re-run of last year's situation, Solent have escaped relegation from English Basketball League Division 1 because of their two wins over Kingston Wildcats, who have finished the season on ten points.

If Solent can beat Worthing, they will rise above Kingston and finish with 12 points for tenth spot.

Solent have only played Worthing once this season, losing 100-94 in November.

That was before the arrival of Larry Parker, who recently passed the 300-point mark scoring at an average of 24 points a game.

If Parker can maintain his form and fellow American Marlin Capers, left, can hit the target frequently to add to his 600-plus points, then Solent will be in with a chance.

"Despite a series of recent losses, there have been periods when Solent have commanded games," said director Jim Rumsey.

"Even league champions Sheffield were outscored in two of the four quarters in their recent match.

"But it needs the input of the home-grown players to support the Americans if we are to threaten."

Paul Silcox should return, while Graham Hunter will hope to overcome an ankle injury that prevented him training earlier in the week.

For Solent fans, there is the chance to support the player-of-the-year award that will be presented after the game.

Solent's second men's team have no game this weekend, but have finished top seeds for the Division 3 play-offs based on their league results.

The quarter-final will take place next Saturday (April 2, Fleming Park, 8pm) against East Kent Crusaders, a team they have beaten twice in the league this season.
