THE Dalian Players will be performing their next production with their tongues planted firmly in their cheeks.

This award-winning group is performing the mystery comedy Out of Sight, Out of Murder by Fred Carmichael.

The play is based around Peter Knight, an author who decides to get away to finish his 'great mystery novel'.

Retiring to an old house for peace and quiet, Knight gets more than he bargained for when the characters in his novel start to take on more life than he would like!

The body count begins to rise and so does the suspense and laughter as the hero struggles to find the killer before the final chapter!

The show is being produced by long-time Dalian member Sandra Franks from Woolston, who has been with the group for 18 years.

She says: "This is a very funny spoof murder-mystery play and we have had great fun rehearsing it."

For Sandra, a legal secretary for Clarke Willmott, being part of Dalian Players is very much a family affair.

She met her husband of 15 years, Andrew Franks, through the group and her two brothers-in-laws, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and eldest son Robert are also all members.

This show sees her directing her brother-in-law Nigel Franks in the lead role. She said: "We've got used to working together." This is the sixth production I have directed and I enjoy the challenge of something completely different to acting."

Out of Sight, Out of Murder at Woolston Methodist Hall, Manor Road North from Thursday, April 7 to Saturday, April 9 at 7.30pm. Tickets £4. Box office: 023 8043 8596.
