Chris Jones claimed several Hampshire county titles despite not training all week due to illness.

The City of Southampton swimmer reached six finals at The Quays and won three open breaststroke titles - 50m (29.48), 100m (1.05.66) and the 200m.

He was also third in the open 50m freestyle (24.69).

He was not the only City of Southampton swimmer to do well.

Gail Strobridge only managed to complete the first day's events due to illness. She still won the 100m breaststroke (1.15.34) and was third in both the 100m butterfly and 200m IM.

Hayley Couchman, 14, gained four Southern County qualifying times and second places in her age group in the 100m breaststroke and 200m breaststroke, 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke.

For the 100m IM, Couchman won her age group, was second in the junior and third in the open groups.

She also came third in the junior 50m butterfly and 50m backstroke.

Emma Macey, 16, won the main 200m butterfly (2.23.02) event and, in her age group, lifted both the 100m and 200m butterfly titles.

Alex Reeves, 16, swam his first competitive 1,500m freestyle and claimed a NQ time, third place in the open and first in his age group in a pb (16.31.97).

Reeves won his age group in the 200m IM and was second in the 400m IM, 100m IM 50m butterfly, 100m butterfly and 200m freestyle.

Nicolas Edwards, 15, won the county junior title in the 1,500m freestyle and was third in the junior 200m butterfly and 400m freestyle.

Luke Horswell gained first, second and third places in his age group in the 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke and 50m freestyle respectively.

Sammy Windebank, 14, collected four southern county qualifying times in the 100m backstroke (second in age group), 200m backstroke (third in age group) and 100m freestyle (third in age group).

She was also third in her age group in the 50m backstroke and 400m freestyle.

Joshua Willcocks was third in the junior 100m IM, Emily Webber third in her age group in the 50m breaststroke, and Alistair Garmendia fourth in the 50m backstroke final.

City's disabled swimmers also produced several pbs.

Shane Scullion scooped four golds in the 50m backstroke, 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke.

Sarah Timms won the 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke and Laura Giddings triumphed in the 50m freestyle.

Other pbs came from Joanne Oliver, Rebecca Walshaw, Kirsty Ledingham, Natasha Day, Samuel Sharpe and Alistair Garmendia.
