Runners are going to have to go 'that extra mile' for charity if they are to complete the fourth Race for Hope at Winchester on May 22.
The popular race has been extended from five miles to 10k (6.2 miles), but the good news is that the course is flat and fast. The two fun runs, which start after the main race, are being retained but are now 1k and 2k for ages 11 and under and 12-plus respectively.
Another major change, however, is that Hope for Winchester now has a major sponsor for the event - Norwich Union Healthcare.
Joan Ferrer, chairman of Hope for Winchester, said: "We are delighted that Norwich Union Healthcare has agreed to become our sponsor for Race for Hope. This is an important fundraiser in our calendar of events and is raising funds for asthma research, which is being conducted locally by the award-winning team from Southampton General Hospital, led by Professor Stephen Holgate.
"The Fun Runs are called 'Get Active for Asthma' and we aim to have lots of families taking part, especially those who suffer with asthma. Entry forms for all races are available from our website www.hope.org.uk/events.htm or by calling 023 8033 3366."
