Winchester U12s entered an experimental side at last Sunday's Trojans Tournament and achieved five wins out of five to take the trophy.
The day started with a tough encounter against Havant. Midway through the first half, a well worked forwards move resulted in Luke Temple crossing the line for the first of the day's 18 tries. This was followed up by a try from Jamie Chaplin-Rogers and then a well deserved debut try for new boy Toby Knight; 21-0 to Winchester. The hardest match of the day came against Basingstoke. Despite being camped in the Basingstoke 22 for most of the first half, the boys went in at half-time with no score. Their patience was rewarded by a try by Iain Broadley early in the second half resulting in a 7-0 scoreline. The next two matches were both won by 33-0, against Guernsey and Trojans. By mid-afternoon, the sun was shining strongly and the squad failed to gel for the first half against a spirited Eastleigh team. However, in the final seven minutes of the match the squad regained their form and finished winners by 26-0.
