A CALL has gone out for more volunteers to help man a charity shop set up by the family of Southampton motorbike crash victim Wayne Howard.
The Wayne Howard Trust shop has gone from strength to strength since opening its doors in Church Street, Shirley, last November.
Initially trading only on Saturdays, the shop now opens all through the week thanks to a loyal band of volunteers which has been recruited. However, there are still some slots which need filling, particularly on Thursdays.
Wayne's mum, Isobel How-ard, said: "We have been humbled by the support we have had from local people.
"The feedback is that people like the shop. The staff that we have are really friendly and we are the cheapest in town as we have no paid staff or head office overheads to meet."
Plans for the shop were unveiled last August, four years after Millbrook dad Wayne, now 36, suffered horrific injuries in a near-fatal road accident.
The crash left the former Manx GP racer with terrible brain damage, as well as robbing him of his right leg.
His family spent months setting up a shop to raise money for the Wayne Howard Trust, a charity launched to help brain injury victims reach their full potential.
