GOLDEN RING youngster Sean Cole will be aiming to become Southampton's newest national champion this Easter Sunday.
The 12-year-old has fought his way to the final of the Golden Gloves championships to be held in Newcastle with victory over the previously unbeaten John Winson from the Finchley Club.
It is the 19th time the Freemantle Golden Ring Club has had a boxer in a major amateur final and Cole will be trying to become the 15th champion.
Mitchell Whitehead was beaten in his Golden Gloves semi-final by Malmesbury's Joe Hughes while, in other action, Tom Watson recorded a points win over Bridport's Gordon Childs.
