A SENSUAL psychological thriller from one of the south-east's most talked-about emerging theatre companies is on its way to the Havant Arts Centre.
Presented by Platform 4 theatre company, Claustrophobia is set in the Hotel Eden - a run-down place full of junk, boxes and old postcards of film stars.
There are three main characters, including Tilly, a teenage innocent who has never ventured from the hotel and lives in the attic and her father Terence, the hotel's introverted proprietor and a collector and maker of boxes. Terence lives in the basement surrounded by his precious objects and film memorabilia.
Terence and Tilly run the hotel together, although this is not hard, since there are no guests - until Beatty arrives.
Beatty is a flamboyant actress in her late 40s, an alcoholic, single with no children.
Acting has been Beatty's life and she soon entertains Tilly and her father with anecdotes from her sparkling career. She makes the hotel come alive and Tilly and Terence are entranced.
But things are not quite as they seem and the entertainment soon changes to something a little more sinister.
Claustrophobia is at Havant Arts Centre on Friday, April 1. Tickets cost £8.95. Box office: 023 9247 2700.
