A WORKER at an Eastleigh freight train depot had his leg crushed on Saturday night.
The 30-year-old local man is understood to have been in the Dutton Lane yard at about 7.25pm when the incident happened.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the man was rushed to hospital.
The accident occurred on land owned by English Welsh and Scottish Railway, Britain's largest freight company,
which moves 100 million tonnes, including cars, coal, timber and steel, every year.
Hampshire Ambulance Service, along with police and fire and rescue staff, were called to the yard following a frantic call from the man's friend.
No details about how the man came to injure his leg have been released, but an ambulance spokesman confirmed he suffered lower leg trauma.
An EWS spokesman said: "We can confirm that an incident occurred at 7.25pm on Saturday, March 19 in our Eastleigh yard.
"The cause of the incident is still being investigated.
"The man who was injured is a member of staff."
