WHAT a weekend for ambitious Wiltshire club Laverstock & Ford who have recently installed brand new floodlights at their Church Road home.

On Saturday morning, the club's newly-installed facilities saw them granted 'senior status' by the Wiltshire FA inspection team and, in the afternoon, 'Stock humbled Division 3 leaders Farnborough North End 1-0 with a first-half strike by Elliott Wykes.

North End, who suffered only their third defeat of the season, were unlucky not take a point when Darren Sked and Paul Xiberras both rattled the woodwork, while Mark Warnock and Rory Todd had efforts cleared off the line.

With second-placed Colden Common winning 2-0 at Netley Central, it means that Farnborough now head the table by virtue of having scored ONE more goal than the Commoners - and the two teams meet in North Hampshire on Saturday!

On 60 minutes, James Atterbury nodded home from a Joe Hodge corner and Nigel Light's side sealed the win after 75 minutes when Richard Lang notched a second against a Netley side who finished the game with nine men.

"It wasn't a pretty game but what a great win especially with the way the other results have gone," beamed Light.

Those other results included promotion hopefuls Otterbourne and Hayling United both only drawing 1-1 at home to Overton and Ordnance Survey respectively, while while fourth-placed Fleetlands slipped up 2-1 at Clanfield.

Overton went ahead after 20 minutes from the penalty spot at Oakwood Park but the Otters rescued a point when Gareth Mead crossed for Mark Smith to slot in a 75th- minute equaliser.

A tenth minute header by Tom Chapman put Hayling in front at home to OS, who rallied to earn a point when Ashley Wilson lobbed the keeper from the edge of the penalty area.

Fleetlands took the lead at Clanfield but that was as good as it got for the Gosport side as Chris 'Ginger' Smith levelled from the penalty spot after Danny New had been upended.

Matt Cooke grabbed a 75th- minute winner for Clanfield after New's free-kick had caused a mix-up in the visitors' defence.

Paulsgrove re-ignited their flickering promotion flame by coming from behind to win 2-1 at Ludgershall Sports with two quickfire replies just before half-time.

After 40 minutes, Lloyd Cliefe equalised with a neat chip and, three minutes later, Wayne Johnson scored from the penalty spot after Cliefe had been pulled down.
