VICTORY for Division 2 table-toppers Lymington Town at Shaftesbury this Saturday will make mathematically certain that John Pyatt's men will be gracing Division 1 next season.
Town's 1-0 home victory over Liss at Southampton Road at the weekend coupled with Locks Heath's goalless draw at Blackfield & Langley means that it looks like being an Easter egg-stravaganza for Lymington. A neat through ball by John Bailey, pictured right, found Steve Jenkin, who beat the Liss keeper in a one-on-one after 25 minutes.
And the mathematicians still insist second-placed Poole Town pick up 11 more points from their last eight games of the season before they can officially join the promotion party.
The Dolphins were certainly in the mood at AFC Aldermaston as efforts from Stuart Brown (10 + 67), Peter Goodbody (38), Ryan Woolfenden (51) and Joe Collins (60 + 80) steered them to a 6-0 scoreline against a Berkshire side who had reeled off four straight wins.
How Locks Heath would have settled for just one goal at Blackfield. "We had plenty of chances but couldn't finish," sighed Heath boss Matt Parr. "Chris Knight could have been a hero for us on his debut but he hit the post with five minutes to go."
Fourth-placed Romsey closed the gap on Locks Heath to three points after a second half recovery saw them win 3-1 at Whitchurch.
Ricky Attridge had time to chest the ball down and blast it into the roof of the net to give Whitchurch a fifth minute lead.
Andy McIsaac rifled Romsey level in the 55th minute, central defender Andy Foster forced home a Simon Woodley free-kick ten minutes later and Woodley teed up Dean Constable for their third goal late on.
A solitary strike by Lee Bailey after an hour was enough to earn Petersfield a 1-0 home verdict against Shaftesbury.
At the bottom, Bishops Waltham's point in a goalless draw at Hythe lifts them back above Aldermaston.
But Fawley remain bottom after goals from James Searle, Tom Woodward, Paul Baker (pen) and Ashley Howard saw them beaten 4-1 at Horndean, who even netted the Oilers' consolation with a James Potter own goal.
