THERE was more controversy at the Portway Stadium where Andover queezed home 3-2 against a Hamble ASSC who were unlucky to lose.

The Lions' winning goal midway through the second half by Vince Rusher came after the Andover man had moved the ball for his free-kick some 20 feet in from the byline.

"The referee admitted to me after the game that he had been conned and that he'll learn from it," sighed Hamble boss Danny Bowers.

A Bobby Swayne header and a Justin Bennett strike put Andover 2-0 up before Neil Ward reduced the deficit just before half-time.

Rusher's disputed free-kick restored their two-goal cushion before Ross Bottomley netted with a 20-yard scorcher on 75 minutes. Richard Morse twice hit the woodwork as the Planemakers' probbed for an equaliser.
