IT'S a report that will send shock waves through homes across Hampshire. And it contains figures which indicate a potential obesity timebomb on our doorsteps.
The Daily Echo Healthy Kids Survey - the most comprehensive of its kind conducted in Southampton to date - involved 800 young people from across the city.
While some results indicate real progress in changing young lifestyles, others suggest a huge change in attitudes will be required to make a breakthrough on other fronts and avert major health problems.
Andrew Mortimore, director of public health at Southampton City Primary Care Trust, said: "It is really sad that one in three girls and one in five boys is worried about their weight. The survey reinforces what we already know - children in Southampton are not eating the right things and not getting enough exercise."
