ANGLO-French performer Monique performs at Romsey's Plaza Theatre tomorrow night. Fusing jazz, world music and chanson and performing in both English and French, Monique is now well established on the UK music scene. SOUTHAMPTON'S flute orchestra, Flautissimo, will soon be celebrating its 21st birthday. The group's first concert was in March 1984, and to honour this anniversary they will be performing a reunion concert featuring past and present musicians at Cantell School in Southampton. THE breathtaking Welsh National Opera are in Southampton next week, and they will present a multitude of productions at The Mayflower.

On Tuesday a new production of Berg's 20th century opera Wozzeck will be performed. Wednesday night will see Verdi's La Traviata on stage, while on Thursday and Saturday night a double bill featuring Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana and Leoncavallo's Pagliacci will be on offer.

English surtitles will translate the lyrics.

ANDY Cooper's Top 8 formed nearly ten years ago to play a Christmas concert in Germany. It proved to be so successful that they are still going strong. The current line-up will play at the Theatre Royal in Winchester on Tuesday, and their versatile style means they combine Dixieland, Swing, Blues, Jump & Jive and much more into their charismatic performances.

ALSO at the Theatre Royal in Winchester next week are folk musicians Steve Knightley and Martyn Joseph. This exciting collaboration between Steve, who used to be in the acoustic duo Show of Hands, and Martyn, who has toured with the likes of Chris de Burgh and Jools Holland, promises to bring anarchy and faith to Winchester on Thursday.

THE renowned Kopelman Quartet have created a storm in the classical world since they formed in 2002. The Russian string virtuosos will present works by Schubert and Tchaikovsky at Turner Sims Concert Hall in Southampton tonight.

ANOTHER string quartet, The Lindsays, perform at The Anvil in Basingstoke next week. The group will be retiring from the concert platform later this year, so Tuesday will be the last chance to see the British foursome at The Anvil. They will be presenting pieces by Haydn, Beethoven and Ravel.

AMERICAN Headcharge play Portsmouth's Wedgewood Rooms on Monday. The Minneapolis-based industrial metal act has a reputation for out-of-control stage antics and brutally powerful music.

The rage-fuelled members of American Headcharge have thankfully calmed down slightly, but there will definitely be a moshpit at this intense gig.

LOS Angeles based group Love were one of rock's truly legendary bands. Led by the charismatic singer / guitarist Arthur Lee, the band had a strong impact on rock music from the 1960s.

A newly-formed Love, still fronted by Arthur Lee, will be performing at The Brook in Southampton on Thursday. Surely this has to be a must-see for any discerning rock fan.
