INSPIRED by a television appeal, 11-year-old Oliver Dolbear stood up in assembly at Beaulieu Primary School and asked his fellow pupils for help.
They rose to the challenge set by Oliver to collect 100 bags of clothing for the Blue Peter Welcome Home Appeal. The clothes will be given to Red Cross charity shops to raise money.
The cash raised from 100 filled bags is the amount it takes to reunite a war-torn family in the African country of Angola.
There are only 107 pupils at the school but they exceeded Oliver's hopes by collecting 120 bags.
Oliver told the Daily Echo: "I feel very proud because I did something to help another person and I like doing that a lot."
Nearly 30 years of civil war in Angola ended in 2002 but thousands of children are still separated from their parents, brothers and sisters.
